Campulung (Kimpolung) Jewish Synagogues – by Mr. Joseph Klein (Iulku)

Mr. Joseph Klein is from Campulung (Kimpolung) and after a Root’s Journey to his home-town (in the early 2000’s), he (the Chair), and the Board of Directors of the Jewish community in Campulung and surroundings have decided and in 2003 have published a book  to document the Jewish life there. The book is in Hebrew and is called:

Kimpolung-Bukowina and Surroundings
A Memorial of the Jewish Community

The section about Religion and Tradion in Campulung was written by Joseph (Iulku) Klein and is in Pages 61-62 of Volume A of the book. It describes 5 different synagogues that existed in Campolung. The section with this information is (in Hebrew) in the link below (page numbers are at the bottom of each page).

Mr. Itzhak Avraham visited Campulung and took pictures of the synagogue. One of the lamps hanging in the synagogue was donated by his father, whose name is written (in Hebrew) on the lampshade.

Vatra Dornei Wiznitzer Synagogue – by Bruria & Ptachia Menkin

Mr. Ptachia Menkin and Mrs. Bruria Menkin took part in the July 2015 journey, on the path of the Holocaust of Romanian Jews, in Bukovina and Transnistria valley of death, that was organized by the World Organization of Bukovina Jews. The  Menkins also visited this area previously in 2011 and 2005.

One of the places they visited in over the years was the Wiznitzer Synagogue in Vatra Dornei in Romania.

Mr. Ptachia Menkin and Mrs. Bruria Menkin took part in the July 2015 journey, on the path of the Holocaust of Romanian Jews, in Bukovina and Transnistria valley of death, that was organized by the World Organization of Bukovina Jews. The  Menkins also visited this area previously in 2011 and 2005.

One of the places they visited in over the years was the Synagogue in Vatra Dornei in Romania.
“Vatra Dornei
is the town where we were born”.

Mr. Ptachia Menkin and Mrs. Bruria Menkin took part in the July 2015 journey, on the path of the Holocaust of Romanian Jews, in Bukovina and Transnistria valley of death, that was organized by the World Organization of Bukovina Jews. One of the places they visited in 2015 was the Synagogue in Storozhynetz, now Ukraine.

One of the places they visited in 2015 was the Synagogue in Siret in Romania. “This synagogue is where my grandfather – Israel Margulies – used to pray. He and his family are commemorated on the memorial plaque in the synagogue”.

Bershad Synagogue – by Edgar Hauster

In July 2015 Edgar Hauster took his motorcycle ride for his “Motorcycle Ride to Czernowitz via Istanbul”. Amongst many places he visited on this long trip was the Bershad Synagogue. Czernowitz ‘Groise Shil’ (Big Synagogue) – by Arthur Rindner

On a waking tour in Czernowitz, organized by Christian Herrmann, with the SVIT (Solidarity Volunteering Initiative Tolerance) in Czernowitz, visiting the Jewish remaining points of interest we saw the “Groise Shil” Synagogue.
